I am sure you have noticed over the past couple of weeks that there has been talk about a huge recall on eggs around the entire country. The eggs have been recalled due to a massive amount of salmonella tainted eggs, but good news for Florida because according to the public health officials the aforementioned eggs have yet to reach the beautiful sunshine state.
All the trouble started when the Wright County Egg and Hillandale Farms, both companies out of Iowa, were confirmed as the source for the salmonella outbreak that might have caused over 2,000 sicknesses across the united states in 17 different states. To date the companies have recalled over 400 million eggs, but food-borne illnesses due to salmonella are very common. Although the beautiful state of Florida has not been affected yet, if you think you caught a bad case of eggs the symptoms of salmonella are very easy to identify.
The symptoms of salmonella include fever, stomach cramps and diarrhea that usually begin 12 to 72 hours after consuming the contaminated product. Most people infected do fine without treatment. But if you are paranoid about these things then you can always make sure that the eggs you eat are thoroughly cooked through and foods containing eggs are heated to at least 160 degrees. But if you had any doubt about Florida before, I bet you are glad you live here now!
